Nipah Virus

Nipah virus infection (NiV) is a viral infection caused by the Nipah virus. First identified in 1998 during an outbreak in Malaysia, Nipah has resulted in 18 deaths in Kerala since the outbreak in May 2018. Cough, fever, headache, shortness of breath and in chronic cases, coma are some of the symptoms of Nipah. Spread from bats and pigs to humans, there is no patented medicine for Nipah as yet.
