Knee pain that is associated with arthritis can increase during inclement weather. Studies have shown a relationship between changing weather conditions and increasing arthritis pain. Conditions that may affect knee pain include falling barometric pressure and lowered temperatures. Cold weather can affect the joints, expanding bodily tissues and increasing pressure and pain. Cold weather doesn’t cause arthritis, but there is some evidence that it has an effect on patients who have the disorder.
